This course covers many of the significant changes found in the 2024 editions of the International Fire Code (IFC) and International Building Code (IBC), as compared to the 2021 editions. Discussion will include identification of the changes and discussion of their impact on design, construction, operations and inspection requirements. Upon completion of the seminar, attendees will be able to:
- Identify specific code changes that have occurred between the 2021 and 2024 editions of the IFC and IBC
- Identify and understand new chapters in the 2024 IFC
- Explain the intent and application of the significant new and revised design, plan review and inspection requirements in the 2024 IFC and IBC
Presenter:
Kevin Scott, President of KH Scott & Associates LLC. and Retired Deputy Fire Chief, Kern County, CA Fire Department. Chief Scott is nationally known as an experienced and entertaining instructor. During his 30-year fire service career, he spent 20 years in the Office of Fire Prevention and held leadership positions with the Southern California Fire Code Committee and the Southern California Fire Prevention Officers Association. He has also served as a member of the Uniform Fire Code Development Committee, International Fire Code Drafting Committee, IFC Code Development Committee, ICC Board of Directors, and ICC staff. All of this experience made Chief Scott the perfect choice to author ICC publications on significant changes to the International Fire Code and to serve as an instructor for this topic.
